Most non-monetary items are complete
Your negotiating team met with the employer several times this fall to continue bargaining. The majority of non-monetary negotiations have concluded, and we have now spent a couple of sessions discussing monetary proposals, such as wages.
A time-consuming but necessary element in these negotiations has been working through the variety of job classifications at SPAN. We have dedicated a lot of time to working on the wage grids across these categories and analyzing where individual staff currently sit on the grid, then proposing how to best incorporate each person into a new grid.
We are pleased that the parties have started these monetary discussions, but there are still a number of issues to negotiate, including wages, benefits, sick leave, personal leave/wellness leave, Stat holidays, vacation, pension, and on-call/call back.
