Getting ready for Convention
AUPE members are holding Convention on December 1, 2, 3, and 4. The Convention theme for this year is Our Struggles, Our Solidarity, Our Union!
We are holding Convention virtually on a full-featured online platform to help protect members and staff from the ongoing pandemic.
The virtual Convention platform will include a live video feed of the convention chair, call-in lines for members to speak—like when debating motions or raising points of order, online voting during convention business and elections, as well as instructions and tech support for members.
Soon, Delegates will receive their delegate packages by email. Please ensure AUPE has your up-to-date email address by filling out this form.
Delegate packages will include details on how to participate in the exciting online world of Convention 2021. Members will not need to use their MyAUPE account for Convention.
More information will be published on this web page as we get closer to convention.
If you are a delegate, please scroll down to download and complete important documents that are needed to participate in convention.
If you're experiencing harassment at the AUPE Virtual Convention contact our Ombudsperson at email@example.com or call 1-800-232-7284 to speak to a Member Resource Centre Agent.
Our Ombudsman will assist you in dealing with your complaint. If the complaint cannot be resolved through this process, they will refer you to the AUPE Constitution Article 29 process and seek assistance from the Member Relations department.
Convention 2021 is an election year. While holding Convention online is definitely a big change, much of our agenda and processes remain the same.
Like any election year, delegates representing each AUPE Local will vote to elect our union’s eight-member executive. Those positions include:
- Executive Secretary-Treasurer
- Six Vice-Presidents
Join the Candidates at Telephone Town Halls Nov. 16 & 17
AUPE’s Elections Committee is hosting Telephone Town Halls in November to help delegates, alternates, and members at large learn more about their candidates!
There will be four town halls in total. They will take place November 16 & 17 at 12 Noon and 7 PM each day.
Click here to read more information about the town halls, including which candidates are participating on each day.
Convention delegates and alternates are automatically registered for the town halls. If you are a member who is not a delegate or alternate but want to participate in the town halls, visit this website and click "Let's Talk" to register for the town halls you would like to join.
Nominations from the floor
Campaign statements from candidates who registered in advance will be included in all delegate packages as well as the print issue of Direct Impact magazine. These may not be the only candidates at convention, as there are often members who announce their candidacy during Convention.
All candidates, including those who declare their candidacy before convention, must be nominated from the floor of our virtual convention.
Please contact a member of the elections committee if you’d like more information.
