Discussions on monetary items will begin soon
Negotiations for this first agreement started in January 2023, and we have now met with the employer for a total of 12 days. Your negotiating team is pleased with the great progress that has been made over these sessions, as we are nearly at the point of negotiating the items directly related to compensation. This has taken some time due to the fact that the hours of work are very complex and diverse for SPAN members.
During our last sessions on September 11 and 12, we signed off on six articles:
- Article 4 – Union Recognition
- Article 6 – Union Stewards
- Article 16 – Union Management Advisory Committee
- Article 22 – Promotions and Vacancies
- Article 23 – Reclassification and New Classifications
- Article 33 – Employee Liability
A meeting between SPAN members and their negotiating team will be scheduled for early October. The purpose of this meeting is to review the article pertaining to hours of work. We will send out another update as soon as the date is determined.
