Portage College: Bargaining rescheduled

Your negotiating team planned to meet with Portage College on June 17 and 18 for bargaining. These meetings were cancelled due to illness and have been rescheduled.

When we return to the bargaining table, we will continue negotiating items that do not involve wages and benefits. We will focus on the employer’s proposed language on Article 14: Hours of Work. They want to include terms for averaging agreements. 

The employer has also proposed increasing the notice time for both taking and returning from leaves without pay. We plan on thoroughly questioning this proposal to ensure it does not negatively impact us. 

If we make good progress over our next days, we believe we can begin negotiating wages and benefits at our subsequent meetings. We are committed to winning the agreement we deserve and wages that keep up with the skyrocketing cost of living.

Our next meetings are scheduled for July 23 and 24.
