You spoke, we listened. We now know the most important issues you want to see addressed in negotiations for your next collective agreement.
Your negotiating committee reviewed the bargaining surveys completed by AUPE members in General Support Services (GSS) at Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Lamont Health Care Centre. We are now preparing proposals based on that information.
The five key bargaining issues you identified were:
- Pay increases;
- Staffing levels/workload;
- Job security;
- Benefits; and
- Mental Health Support.
A number of other concerns were identified in the surveys for which your negotiating team is developing proposals.
We have reached out to AHS and have obtained the following bargaining dates:
- Feb. 22 and 23, 2024: Initial exchange with the employer;
- March 21, 22, 2024;
- April 3, 4, 2024; and
- April 25, 26, 2024.
Your negotiating team thanks all GSS members who submitted survey responses. It is only by working with you that we will be able to get a new contract that works for us all.

Your fellow AUPE members in nursing care at AHS are also entering bargaining. It’s important to build solidarity and to support each other in what will be a challenging round of bargaining.
Between the two groups, we have more than 42,000 members. We are stronger when we work together. Negotiating teams from both groups will meet on Feb. 13.
