Early sessions will focus on non-monetary language
On September 15, your negotiating team officially started bargaining your first agreement with the employer. The parties met and exchanged full proposal packages, excluding proposals on wages, which will occur at a later stage. During these early bargaining sessions, our efforts will focus on establishing the language of the agreement, which includes important aspects like definitions, rights of the union in the workplace, grievance procedure, discipline and dismissal rules, job posting processes, and others. Once we have resolved as many of the non-monetary language items as possible, we will move onto monetary items, like wages, benefits, shift differentials, statutory holidays, overtime, etc.
Our next meetings with the employer will take place September 27 and October 3, 4 and 10.
