Your negotiating team recommends members vote yes
Your negotiating team has reached a tentative agreement for a new contract with the employer, providing terms in line with those seen at other post-secondary institutions in Alberta.
While the tentative agreement does not provide all that we asked for, your negotiating team was successful in getting rid of all rollbacks proposed by the employer at the beginning of bargaining.
The employer has also withdrawn its rollback demand on vacation carry over. Additionally, it has agreed to include language allowing members to use three days of special leave for personal reasons.
Because of the mandate imposed on employers by the Government of Alberta (GOA), we see no prospect for further gains. No other post-secondary bargaining unit has been able to break that mandate, including the University of Lethbridge Faculty Association (ULFA), which went on. strike earlier this year for 41 days.
For this reason, your negotiating team is recommending members vote yes on the tentative agreement as outlined by the mediator.

Voting information
Voting will be conducted through an online voting system. Voting will open at 1201 a.m. on Jan. 10, 2023, and will close 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 15.
Salary increases:
- Effective July 1, 2020 – 0%.
- Effective July 1, 2021 – 0%.
- Effective July 1, 2022 – 0%.
- Effective April 1, 2023 – 1.25% to wage rates for all positions.
- Effective Dec. 1, 2023 – 1.5% to wage rates for all positions.
Plus, an additional 0.5% Subject to the Gain Sharing Formula.
If ratified, the new agreement will expire on June 30, 2024.
