Your negotiating team met the employer on May 5 and 6 to continue bargaining. We made significant progress over a short time and the tone of the meetings remains positive.
We discussed several articles and signed off on many, including:
- Article 1 – Definitions
- Article 6 – Legislation and the Collective Agreement
- Article 8 – Employee / Employer / Union Relations
- Article 11 – Probationary Period
- Article 12 – Attendance
- Article 18 – Human Resources File
- Article 20 – Grievance Procedure
- Article 22 – Lay-Off and Recall
- Article 37 – Amendments to Terms of Employment
- Article 43 – Rates of Pay
- Article 46 – Respectful Workplace
We are close to wrapping up discussions on every item that does not involve wages and benefits. Just a few articles need to be discussed and signed off at our next meeting. These include:
- Article 9 – Time Off for Union Business
- Article 23 – Sick Leave and Disability
- Article 33 – Safety and Health
- Article 42 – Staff Development Fund
We are eager to start negotiating for the improved wages and benefits we deserve. The employer is hesitant to begin these negotiations.
The employer will share their first wage offer at our next meeting.
