Lethbridge Polytechnic: We refuse to accept less than we deserve
Bargaining update for Local 071 Chapter 001, Lethbridge Polytechnic
Apr 07, 2025
Employer’s wage proposal brings bargaining to a halt. Negotiating team seeks informal mediation
Your negotiating team met on March 31 to plan our next steps in bargaining.
This was our first meeting with our new AUPE negotiator, Darren Gangur, who is taking over our negotiations from James Mitchell. We would like to thank James for all his work getting us to this point in bargaining.
Our focus in this meeting was to review our progress so far, including a review of your responses to last year’s bargaining survey. We still have a long way to go in bargaining, but we are ready for the fight ahead.
Bargaining started well, but quickly came to a stand-still as wage discussions began. The employer’s wage proposals are just not good enough. Our work is vital to Lethbridge Polytechnic, and we should be paid fairly for our labour.
We are working with the employer to schedule dates for informal mediation. We will send another update once we have confirmed dates.
