Bargaining Update for Local 071/Chapter 001

Text only block

Results will be announced by the mediator

Our chapter held a ratification vote on Friday, May 13, on the mediator's recommended terms of settlement. A huge thank-you to everyone that came out to the information meetings last Thursday both in-person and online.

Also to those members who came in from remote work or days off to participate in the ratification vote.

The results of the balloting will be sent to the mediator while we await the results of the Board of Governor's meeting on May 24. The result of that vote will be sent to the mediator, and the mediator will advise the parties of the outcome.

If both the Union and Employer ratify the Mediators Report, we have a new collective agreement. If the ratification vote fails, your negotiating team will move forward with negotiating an Essential Services Agreement (ESA), followed by an application to the Labour Board for formal mediation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to a member of your negotiating team or AUPE resource staff.

In Solidarity,
