U of L chastised for showing lack of respect to workers

Your negotiating team was left frustrated once again by the last-minute cancellation of bargaining scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8.

This was the second time in two weeks the employer has cancelled negotiations at short notice. We have endured numerous cancellations at the employer’s hands earlier in the bargaining process.

This time, the university blamed the cancellation on the strike vote taken by the University of Lethbridge Faculty Association (ULFA), but this claim rings hollow, bearing in mind the previous pattern of cancellations and the fact that the ULFA strike vote was not a surprise.

We made our feelings clear to the University of Lethbridge, that this showed a lack of respect to the work done by our 500 General Support Services members and the important role we play in helping students.

Meanwhile, your negotiating team is still determined to get the best collective agreement possible.

To keep you up to date, a list of the outstanding items at the bottom of this article.
