Covenant Health cancels bargaining dates again
After cancelling bargaining that was scheduled for Jan. 25 and 26, the employer has informed us that they are unable to meet on Feb. 10 and 11. They cite staffing pressures due to the pandemic which rings hollow given negotiations have continued at Alberta Health Services tables with both AUPE and the Health Sciences Association of Alberta.
Your negotiating team is disappointed. We are eager to get to the table and bargain an agreement while the employer seems to wish to delay doing so for as long as it can. While AUPE is pursuing a complaint with the Alberta Labour Relations Board, we anticipate a lengthy wait for the matter to be heard.
In the meantime, we are currently looking at dates in March and April and will update you further once we hear back from the employer. Remember that your current collective agreement remains in full force and effect. If you feel that management is not adhering to the agreement, please reach out to a shop steward or contact the Member Resource Centre at 1-800-232-7284.
