Bargaining Suspended, Job Security Strengthened
Your negotiating teams last met with the employer on March 5 and 6, when we agreed to amalgamate your two different collective agreements into one.
We had also agreed at that meeting to begin bargaining on May 7 and 8, 2020.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, your teams and the employer have agreed to suspend bargaining and strengthen your job security until at least May 31.
AUPE members are on the front lines of the battle against COVID-19, especially those working in health care and at assisted living facilities. This increased job security is a recognition of the important role you play in caring for residents.
Your negotiating teams will continue to advocate for you and your wellbeing during this pandemic and once bargaining begins. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of your team or AUPE resource staff with any questions, comments or concerns you may have.
