After over a year of bargaining, the finish line is finally in sight. The Alberta Labour Relations Board tentatively scheduled our arbitration hearings for June 17 & 18, when an independent arbitrator will consider the union’s and employer’s arguments about what your collective agreement should include.
The arbitration board will consider the broader seniors-care and healthcare industry and economic factors when making their decision. All we’ve asked for since the beginning of bargaining was an agreement comparable to other AUPE first contracts in seniors care, so we believe this process is favourable for members.
The arbitration board will include one union nominee (Kathie Milne), one employer nominee (Bob Bass) and one chair (John Moreau). When the board decides on your collective agreement, its decision will be final and binding.
