Non-monetary proposals presented to employer

Your negotiating team met with the employer on Sept. 13 and 14 and presented our proposals for non-monetary items that we want included in our first collective-bargaining agreement.

We based the template of our proposal on the survey we conducted and items that are already agreed to in principle at negotiations with the Whitehorn Village facility in Calgary. We do not think these issues are contentious and hope to reach agreement on them quickly.

Our next bargaining dates have been scheduled for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. We will submit our monetary proposals well in advance of those meetings to give the employer’s negotiators plenty of time to consider a detailed response.

The Origin group is one of the lowest-paying employers in the seniors-living industry in Alberta, both with its hourly wage rates and with the premiums it pays for working evenings, nights and weekends.

Please stay tuned for future bargaining updates. If you have questions, please contact a member of your negotiating team.
