Productive meetings move us closer to bargaining for wages
Your negotiating team met with the employer on May 29 and 30 to continue bargaining.
We had productive discussions and signed off on two articles:
- Article 13 – Probationary Period
- Article 26 – Long-Term Disability.
We also made progress on improvements to:
- Article 17 – Overtime
- Article 25 – Disability and Wellness in the Workplace
- Article 49 – Temporary Employees Engaged in Applied Research Activities.
Your team also once again told NAIT that we will not discuss any changes to Article 30 – Annual Vacation Leave. NAIT has proposed changes to Article 30 that would lower the number of vacation days we can bank—this is an unacceptable rollback.
We expect to wrap up non-wage related discussions later this summer and begin bargaining for wages in the fall.
Our next bargaining dates are Aug. 18 and 19.
