Employer agrees to improve the Scheduling Committee process

Your negotiating team met with Bethany Care Society to begin bargaining on April 24.

We had productive discussions and made good progress. We also exchanged our non-wage related proposals.

We brought up one of the key issues from our bargaining survey: the Scheduling Committees’ poor performance at Didsbury, Harvest Hills, and Airdrie.

The employer agreed that the committees did not follow the proper process. The employer has committed to updating the Scheduling Committee process to hopefully improve our working conditions.

The committees will focus on improving shift structures, make it easier to take time off, and hire more staff. The Scheduling Committee will meet in early May to work on these issues, and we will keep talking about them at the bargaining table.

Our next bargaining meetings are scheduled for May 8, July 21, 22, 29, and 30.
