Bargaining Continues
We are very happy to have signed off on three important issues: workplace violence prevention, job security, and vacation.
Workplace Violence Prevention
The new Workplace Violence Prevention Strategy language establishes a process for reporting and investigating violent incidents as well as tracking them in your Operational Health & Safety Committee minutes.
Job Security
No Contracting Out has been renewed for the entire life of the next agreement. Additionally, we negotiated a new layoff recall option which would let employees on layoff accept casual work without negatively affecting their recall status and seniority standing.
Vacation
New language would help protect members from having vacation requests unreasonably denied and unreasonably cancelled.
This was another productive round of meetings, and your bargaining committee expects to tackle monetary items in the new year. The next bargaining meetings are tentatively scheduled for February 11, 12, and 13 in Calgary.
Please contact a member of your bargaining committee or AUPE resource staff if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
