On September 1, Alberta Health Services sent AUPE the first draft of their mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy for the union’s input. This is the document that will establish the terms and conditions of immunization requirements for AHS staff, as well as members employed at Covenant Health, CapitalCare, and Carewest.

Many of you have questions about the Policy and how it will affect you. While we don’t have all the answers yet, the union is in communications with AHS and will be asking them important questions about the Policy's contents, so we can better understand how to approach consultations.

Yesterday (September 3), your elected Executive released a statement (read here) outlining AUPE’s position on employer-mandated COVID-19 vaccine policies. We will continue to consult with AHS and other unions to ensure we can keep protecting the health and safety of the public, the health and safety of workers, and the rights of members.

Please continue to check aupe.org for future updates. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact AUPE Vice-President Bonnie Gostola at b.gostola@aupe.org.
