Yesterday (Jan. 14), Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Hinshaw, announced AHS has 16,000 available COVID-19 vaccination slots for healthcare workers who are eligible for priority immunization this weekend. The slots opened yesterday and are already getting booked.

If you are a healthcare employee working in acute, continuing care, and/or home care (public and private), you should have received an email or a phone call from Alberta Health Services (AHS). The email indicates who is eligible for vaccination this weekend and instructions on booking your appointment online.

Check your junk mail and spam folder

A number of you informed your AUPE representatives yesterday and today that you missed the AHS memo because it went straight to your junk mail.

Please check your junk mail or spam, so you don’t miss any important information. You may also receive a phone call from AHS with further information. The caller ID will appear as “AHS” on your phone.

This has been an emotionally intense and physically exhausting time for all of you on the frontlines. Confusion and concern around vaccination distribution has not helped, but your union is here for you. If you have any questions or concerns about worksite specific issues, COVID protocols and vaccination , please contact your Membership Services Officer (MSO) by calling AUPE’s Resource Centre:  1-800-232-7284.
