Bargaining between AUPE members and AHS starts soon. Your General Support Services (GSS) Negotiating Team will have its first meeting with AHS on Feb. 22 and 23 to exchange offers, and your Nursing Care (NC) Negotiating Team will do the same on Mar. 13 and 14.
Wear the colour red on Feb. 23 and Mar. 14 to show solidarity with your fellow members! All GSS and NC members are encouraged to participate on each day. Take a selfie with your coworkers wearing red and email your pictures to photos@aupe.org. AUPE’s Communications department will use some of these photos on social media to show your enthusiasm.
Some of us are unable to wear red clothing at work. That’s okay! You can also wear a red hair tie, button, or lanyard—you could even use a red water bottle or coffee mug. What’s important is showing our employer that we are united.
Now is the time to talk about bargaining. Now is the time to fight for a better contract. Now is the time to support each other. AUPE members are the backbone of Alberta’s health care system, and we deserve working conditions and compensation that reflect the importance of our work.
