Your negotiating team met with the employer on April 3 and 4 to continue bargaining. We are now in the thick of negotiating for the issues you told us were most important in our bargaining survey.

Your team had some intense conversations with AHS about many of these issues. It is clear, however, that the employer is simply not interested in making your working conditions or work-life balance better. We have yet to significantly address our serious concerns regarding job security, wages, and working short.

Your team spent a lot of time reminding AHS that we are essential to our health care system and will not be treated as lesser than our colleagues. Regardless, we did sign-off on several articles and letters of understanding.

Articles and LOUs with no changes

We signed off on the following articles and letters of understanding as current. These items will remain unchanged in our next collective agreement and include:

Articles

  • 5 - Union Membership and Payment of Dues
  • 12 - Bulletin Boards
  • 13 - Supply of Uniforms
  • 14 – Probation
  • 34 - Altitude and Hazard Differential
  • 35 - Pension Plan
  • 36 - Camp Allowance

LOUs

  • 2 - Multiple Positions
  • 3 - Ten (10) Month Positions in Schools
  • 6 - Joint Task Force
  • 8 - Apprenticeship Program – AUPE General Support Services
  • 10 - Distribution of Additional Hours
  • 13 - Standard Sick Leave Plan and Sick Leave Grandfathering
  • 15 - Market Supplement For Maintenance, Trades and Power Engineer Positions
  • 16 - Northern Incentive Program
  • 17 - Supplement One – Flexible Work Schedule

Next meetings are April 25 and 26

Support your team and have some fun! Wear red on April 25 and 26 to show your solidarity. You can also wear red to support our AHS Nursing Care colleagues on April 17 and 18.

Send photos of you and your coworkers wearing red to photos@aupe.org so the union can share them on social media. Your team greatly appreciates your support – the photos you send us are so inspiring!

Please contact your negotiating team if you have any questions. Be sure to contact the negotiating team member who represents your Local.
