Bargaining resumes with OH&S conversations
Your General Support Services negotiating team met with AHS on January 20 and 21 to resume bargaining. This was the first time we had met since October of last year.
We did not sign off on any Articles during these meetings, but that does not mean we didn’t make any progress. Our conversations were positive, and it is encouraging to see the employer act more respectfully at the bargaining table.
We spent most of the time talking about Article 11, Health and Safety. This is an extremely important area of concern for members not just because of the ongoing pandemic, but for reasons like violence against staff which predate COVID-19.
Your team reminded the employer of the importance of workers exercising our rights in the workplace. We will continue pushing for improvements to our collective agreement that help keep all of us safe as we provide the health care services Albertans depend on.
Next bargaining meetings
Our next bargaining dates are scheduled for January 31 and February 17. We have also requested future meeting dates from the employer so we can carry on with bargaining at a good pace, without delay.
