Bargaining Continues
Your bargaining team met with the employer in late September to resume negotiations.
The employer has a new negotiator, so we spent some bargaining time getting them up to speed and explaining what your bargaining team wants to accomplish. We had two positive and productive days of meetings with this new negotiator.
We were able to sign off on a new and improved Article 7. We added a way for you to address workload concerns, including a workload review form. This new process has a number of important steps, ending with a Regional Manager reviewing and making a decision on workload issues.
The number of resolved and unresolved workload issues will be tracked by your Employee-Management Advisory Committee every year, with the goal of using this information to make more workload improvements in the next round of bargaining.
While not perfect, this is a good step forward. Your bargaining team hopes negotiations will continue to be positive and productive moving forward.
Next Meetings
The next round of bargaining meetings is scheduled for November 5, 6, and 7.
Your bargaining team is dedicated to pursuing a collective agreement that treats all of us with the dignity, equity, and fairness we deserve. The employer needs to respect our needs and the needs of the residents we care for.
