Town hall attendees show strong support for union demands
As we discussed in our last bargaining update your negotiating committee filed for informal mediation, which was granted in June. We were forced to make this application as the employer has repeatedly refused to move on our non-monetary proposals. We now have confirmed dates for this mediation.
The parties will meet with mediator Rick Wilson on October 2 & 3.
We are optimistic that the mediator will recognize that our demands are reasonable, and a solution can be found so that we can move forward with discussions.
Bargaining town hall meeting
AUPE held a bargaining town hall on August 19 for members working for the University of Calgary. The event was well attended with 190 members on hand to hear what is happening at the bargaining table.
Our demands for better pay and job security were the main topics of discussion and were overwhelmingly supported by the members in attendance.
Wear red to support your negotiating team. We must stand together to get what we deserve. Show the employer that we are united—wear red in solidarity!
