Bargaining Update MARCH 10, 2022—TOWN OF PONOKA—LOCAL 118, CHAPTER 004

Text only block

Following a year of stalled negotiations, including the employer forcing us to vote on a bad proposal, the negotiations team at the town of Ponoka is gearing up to get back into action.

As you know by now, your negotiations team has been making phone calls to our co-workers to make sure that we reflect your priorities at the bargaining table. We want to thank everybody for participating—hearing from you means that we are better able to bring your concerns to the table, and secure a fair contract.

The negotiations team has gone over the results of the phone bank, and taken notes about what you told us. We heard from you that your main priorities remain improving your wages and benefits. With that in mind, we approached the employer to restart bargaining. We have now heard back from the employer, and they indicated they would be available to meet in mid-April.

We will make sure to keep you informed through every step of the process. In order to stay updated, please make sure that your negotiations team has your personal email address, so that we can send you bargaining updates like this one.

It’s important to remember—we can only achieve a fair contract if we’re united, and stand in solidarity with one another. Our strongest power is our solidarity, united behind our negotiations team. That’s how we can win.

If you haven’t heard from the negotiations team, but want to tell us about your priorities for our next contract, then don’t hesitate to reach out via our emails below. The team also welcomes any questions, comments, or feedback.
