Prolonged and fraught process ends with ratification
After years of pushing through an extended and often vexing process, government interference, and barriers from the employer, members employed by the Special Areas Board turned out on April 6 to make a final decision on a contract with their employer.
Your negotiating team thanks all the members who voted on the agreement, with nearly 85% of eligible members casting a vote. You stood by your coworkers through turmoil and upheavals to reach a resolution and a majority have agreed to ratify the agreement with 65% voting in favour.
The agreement will be in effect from January 1, 2019, to March 31, 2024, at which point your negotiating team will continue to fight for an improved agreement.
