There’s still lots of ground to cover
The last time your negotiating team met with the employer at the bargaining table was Oct. 21, 2020. We are pleased to report that when we returned to the table on Mar. 21, 2022, the tone was very positive and respectful. With this being just the fourth day of negotiations since we commenced bargaining Feb. 27, 2020, everyone was happy to finally get back to the table.
Both parties reviewed their positions from October 2020, as the employer has a new negotiator at the table. We were glad to see the employer withdraw the concessions they were demanding and agree to current language for overtime, shift differentials and weekend premiums. They also agreed to current language for Ambulance duty and On Call duty.
While there remains a number of outstanding issues that need to be discussed, some of which are quite substantial, we will continue to bring your concerns to the table as we work towards negotiating a fair collective bargaining agreement. We have more dates scheduled for April 19 – 20, 2022 and will update you following those meetings.
Remember that your current collective agreement remains in effect.
