Bargaining Update: Millrise Retirement Community, May 5, 2020
We understand you have been advised that Alberta Health Services (AHS) has appointed AgeCare to assume management of the Millrise Seniors' Village 3.
As the memo you received stated, "There will be no changes to your terms of employment, except that you will now take direction and instructions from the new AgeCare leadership."
We have been informed by Alberta Health Services that this arrangement is temporary and set to expire in 90 days.
We understand you are already stressed and confused. We know that you are worried and have a lot of questions about what this means for you and your employment. We understand it’s a very hard place to be right now.
We will keep you informed as soon as we receive further information from Alberta Health Services and AgeCare.
Union Representation
It is important to remember that you work in a unionized workplace and that your collective agreement and the Alberta Labour Relations Code legally protect you.
You are entitled to union representation when requested. So when and if AgeCare or their agents request to meet with you and you feel that you require union representation, make that request before the meeting begins or even during the meeting.
AUPE can provide assistance and representation on employment and labour relations, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), and Workers’ Compensation (WCB) matters.
