Advanced Labour School 2025

About this event

We invite active members who have taken courses with AUPE to apply for Advanced Labour School 2025, which will be held at the Jasper Park Lodge from March 9 to 13, 2025.

The theme this year is "From the Shop Floor to the Street: Solidarity Wins!" that through solidarity and standing together change can happen. Labour wins came from those before us on the shop floors and streets making a difference. It is now up to us to take opportunities, such as Labour School, to be the voice of the future, and apply what we learn to stand up for each other through action and inspire others to do the same.

Applications: Are open July 8, 2024, and closes September 9, 2024. Prerequisites must be met at the time of application. 

Courses: You may make up to three course selections. After applications close, Chapter chairs will be asked for feedback, and Local Chairs for recommendations. Applicants will be notified in December of acceptance and course assignments.The courses offered at Labour School 2025 (and prerequisites) are:

1. Accelerated Steward (completed Contract Interpretation and be a Nominated Steward)
2. Advanced OHS (completed either OHS for Stewards or OHS for Union Activists)
3. Continuing Education for Stewards (must be a Steward)
4. Educating and Organizing Your Shop Floor (completed Contract Interpretation and must be a Component Officer)
5. Leadership Essentials (completed Basic Conflict Management)
6. Taking Union (completed either Rethinking Politics, Direct Action or Workplace Power)

Applications must be completed in FULL by Monday, September 9, 2024. Once you've completed your application, your status will appear as "SUBMITTED" on your dashboard. If your status appears as "INCOMPLETE" as of September 9, 2024, it will not be accepted.
