What is Pay Equity?

Pay equity—the principle of equal pay for equal work—is a fundamental human right enshrined in international agreements and Canadian federal legislation. While the initial goal of pay equity was to address the under-valuation of work traditionally performed by women, the principle of pay equity applies to all people, regardless of gender.
