AUPE members who are in crisis due to trauma or events occurring at work can now access professional counselling services as a benefit of their union membership. Starting today, Oct. 1, 2015, AUPE’s Crisis Support Service through Solareh is available by calling 1-844-744-7026 at any time.
AUPE has contracted with Solareh, a mental health counselling organization, to provide members with access to professional counselling on a confidential basis for crisis situations linked to traumatic or crisis events at work. An event is considered traumatic when it creates within the member a state of urgency that manifests itself as intense anxiety and vulnerability.
By calling 1-844-744-7026, AUPE members will receive an initial telephone assessment to ensure that the crisis they are experiencing is related to workplace events. Members are then eligible for up to six free counselling sessions per crisis situation. Solareh will set up the appointment to meet with a counsellor within 72 hours of the initial call.
Members also have access to the Solareh website at www.solareh.com, which contains valuable health-related information.
Crisis support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. If you are an AUPE member in a crisis due to something that happened at work, call 1-844-744-7026 to access AUPE’s Crisis Support Service.
