Reminder: Both former and current Carewest employees are entitled to retro pay now that a two-year agreement with the employer has been ratified.
Wage increases of 1.2 per cent, effective July 1, 2015, and 0.8 per cent, effective July 1, 2016, are retroactive for all nursing care employees.
The new agreement covers all nursing care employees at the following sites: Dr. Vernon Fanning, Glenmore Park, George Boyack, Colonel Belcher, Signal Pointe, Rouleau Manor, Garrison Green, Sarcee, Nickle House, and C3 Beddington.
If you are no longer employed with Carewest, but were an active employee between July 1, 2015, and June 30, 2017, you are entitled to retro pay.

You will need to provide up-to-date banking information if your deposit account has changed since working at Carewest.
If you know of a former Carewest employee who may be entitled to retro wages, please share this update with them.
Current employees can expect their retro wages on August 16, 2017.
Other improvements include:
• Overtime increases to double time-and-a-half or triple time on “super stats” (August Civic Holiday and Christmas Day)
• Mileage rate increases from $0.46 to $0.52
• Annual coverage for extensive dental extensive services increases from $2,500 to $3,000
• Lifetime coverage for orthodontic increases from $2,500 to $3,000
• Three personal days
• Bullying and harassment protection language
The agreement expires June 30, 2017. As such, bargaining for a new collective agreement is expected to begin shortly.
