Tentative agreement reached

We are pleased to report your bargaining team and the employer came to a tentative agreement on Sept. 12. The ratification vote is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 27 at our respective worksites.

If you and the employer agree to the proposed agreement, it will come into effect on Sept. 27 and expire March 31, 2020.

Be sure to vote and secure the protections you deserve. These include:

  • A new Respect in the Workplace article.
  • An increased Flexible Health Spending Account ($350.00).
  • Increased weekend shift premiums to $3.50/hr.

The agreement also includes wage increases for all classifications and steps as follows:

  • 1.5 per cent retroactive to April 1, 2018 (based on all paid hours)
  • 2.0 per cent effective April 1, 2019

Other provisions, specifically the time frames for your Leaves of Absence, have been increased to match the latest Employment Standards.

Named Holiday Pay in lieu for part-time, temporary and casual employees will also increase 5 per cent under the new agreement along with improved Compassionate/ Terminal Care Leave, and Domestic Leave.
