Bargaining begins

Your bargaining committee met with the employer Feb. 8 to exchange opening bargaining proposals for your next collective agreement.

A few amendments were proposed by the employer to the Leaves of Absences article to reflect changes to Alberta’s Employment Standards Code. Language was also presented to provide timelines for investigations in the No Harassment and No Discrimination article.

The employer also tabled its monetary proposal at zero per cent each year for two years.

It’s important to note we are in the very early stages of bargaining and we are hopeful moving forward that progress will be made during future rounds of negotiations. Those dates are being scheduled now and your committee will keep you informed throughout the entire bargaining process.
