Your bargaining committee met with the employer May 8, 9 and 10 to exchange in-going proposals and begin collective bargaining. The parties engaged in meaningful discussion regarding a number of issues and were able to sign off 23 Articles as in your current agreement or with minor amendments, and two Letters Of Understanding (LOU).
The union and employer both tabled complete packages, which included full monetary positions.
Union opening proposal, three-year agreement:
2018 – 2.5 per cent
2019 – 3 per cent
2020 – 3 per cent
Employer opening proposal, two-year agreement:
2018 – 0 per cent
2019 – 0 per cent
With no other monetary improvements to the agreement.
The union has proposed improvements in all of the outstanding Articles and Letters of Understanding and will continue to work to achieve the best collective agreement possible.
We are scheduled to meet again on July 5 and 6 to continue negotiations. Your bargaining team would like to thank you for your continued support and encourage you stay engaged in the negotiation process.
