Your bargaining committee met with the employer July 7, 8 and 9 to continue bargaining your next collective agreement.
We’re pleased to report four major articles were signed off including enhancements to information sharing with the union, improvements to orientation for care staff and strengthened commitment to minimum levels of education for all staff, including medical administration for Health Care Aides where applicable. In addition, a strengthened employee/management process will now allow issues to be addressed in timely and enforceable manner at the Employee Management Advisory Committee, including staffing and other professional issues.
Moreover, layoff and recall language was briefly discussed and will be addressed during the next round of bargaining, which is scheduled to take place Aug. 18, 19 and 20.
Your committee would like to commend the employer for the progressive, meaningful and respectful approach its taken toward bargaining thus far.
Your committee is dedicated to keeping you informed throughout the entire bargaining process.
Please do not hesitate to contact a member of your committee with any questions, comments or concerns you may have.
