BARGAINING CONTINUES

Your bargaining committee met with the employer on Aug. 21, 2017. During our previous meeting the only outstanding item was regarding the general wage and merit-based salary adjustment.

The employer hasn’t changed its position in the time since then, which is a zero per cent wage adjustment over a two-year agreement, which the bargaining committee found unacceptable.

While the union is open to consideration of percentages below their opening proposals of 2.5 per cent, a wage freeze is unwarranted and not acceptable. The union is willing to engage in bargaining and adjust our in-going proposals, but the Employer is not willing to do the same.

Because bargaining has stalled, both parties have agreed to pause negotiations and reassess again in mid to late-October. The employer has indicated it is open to mutually agreeing to a mediator at that time if necessary.
