Tentative agreement reached

Your bargaining team is pleased to report we came to a tentative agreement on the morning of Sept. 10, after our last round of negotiations in August.

The ratification vote will happen on Friday, Sept. 21 at the worksite.

If ratified, the proposed agreement will come into effect April 1, 2018, and expire March 31, 2020. The tentative agreement includes salary increases in both years:

  • 1.5-per-cent increases (retro pay based on all hours) effective April 1, 2018.
  • Two-per-cent increases effective April 1, 2019.

The contract also features gender-neutral language, a Respect in the Workplace article and a Domestic Violence Leave provision (other Leaves of Absence were increased to meet Employment Standards).

This kind of progressive language is increasingly common in Alberta’s collective agreements, and we’re pleased you can now go to work knowing your emotional and physical health is protected.

Other monetary gains we secured include:

  • Evening, night and weekend premiums, increased by 75 cents per hour.
  • Employer-matched RRSP, increased by one per cent.
  • Paid Holidays, increased to five per cent in lieu.

Thank you for supporting each other and your bargaining team throughout the negotiations process. Please vote on Sept. 21 and ensure you get the protections and compensation you all deserve.
