Bargaining continues: Delays from the employer remain

Your bargaining committee met with the employer Jan. 16, 17 and 18 in Edmonton to continue bargaining your next collective agreement.

We signed off one current article with amendments, and one Letter of Understanding (LOU) with amendments.

Signed off article:

Article 6: No Discrimination, amended to include respect in the workplace in the title.

Signed off LOU:

LOU 14: Monthly Allowance for Personal Support Coordinators, amended by adding two new worksites.

Alberta Health Services continues to delay progress at the table on important items like job security, no contracting out language, workload and more. There has been very little discussion on monetary items, including wages, which the employer has tabled at zero per cent each year for two years.

The employer’s approach continues to frustrate your committee and highlights the lack of understanding it has on the important work we do every day.

Future bargaining dates are scheduled for March 13, 14 and 15 and we’re hopeful we will get some meaningful engagement from AHS on these crucial items.
