Bargaining Continues

Your bargaining team met with the employer on May 22, 23, and 24 to focus on mostly non-monetary proposals.

Movement was made on addressing changes to the agreement, and we are pleased with the addition of a new article concerning Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment.

We also secured improved contract language for:

  • Job Evaluation
  • Terms of Employment
  • Safety and Health
  • Vacation Leave

Although there was a brief breakdown in tone during the second day of bargaining, we managed to move forward and focus on making positive updates to your collective bargaining agreement.

This is encouraging progress. However, there are still 30 outstanding items to settle.

The union has proposed new articles to modernize the collective bargaining agreement with regards to:

  • Employment Security
  • Workload
  • Contracting Out
  • Exclusion Review Process

Future Bargaining Dates

We have agreed to return to bargaining on Sept. 5 and 6, but are attempting to find an earlier date to resume negotiations.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of your bargaining team.
