Biographies
Ken Cutrell
Union Representative
Calgary Regional Office

Ken Cutrell is a Union representative in AUPE's Calgary office. He worked there off and on as a temporary rep before joining AUPE's staff as a full-time rep in 1999.

Cutrell became an AUPE member in 1974 as a Correctional Officer at Spy Hill Correctional Centre. He took basic Union Steward's training in the mid-1970s. In the early 80s he was elected to a Justice Department position called a Labour Relations Co-ordinator. This position was a full-time Union Steward paid by the employer to handle site-specific issues. One Labour Relations Co-ordinator was hired at each provincial jail - and Cutrell was elected to the job for five consecutive two-year terms until the province eliminated the position.

During this time, Cutrell also served on the Local 003 council and was elected to various positions that included Local Secretary, Local Chair, General Services Bargaining Committee member and Local 003 Bargaining Chair.

Cutrell is an avid hunter and camper, and enjoys spending time in the bush with family and friends.
