Biographies
Ron Hodgins
Executive Director
Ron Hodgins'
union background spans 30 years from his early days as an elected officer
with the Canadian Paperworkers Union (now the Communications, Energy
and Paperworkers Union) in Northern Ontario and later Hinton, Alberta.
During his eventful career in labour relations, Hodgins created a union
from the ground up called the Health Care Employees Union and has been
involved in all facets of labour relations, including negotiating contracts,
conducting arbitrations, organizing and co-ordinating strikes.
Hodgins is also a graduate of the Labour College of Canada.
He also had the opportunity, by way of scholarship, to study labour
relations in Europe for approximately one year and worked extensively
with European unions during that time.
As AUPE’s Executive Director, Hodgins is responsible for the
supervision of the union’s approximately 105 staff members and
works with AUPE’s management team and staff on a daily basis.
Hodgins is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys camping, fishing and hunting
in the great outdoors, although he reports that the animals seem to
win more than he does.
