Provincial Executive Meeting Summaries
September 15, 2001

The meeting was called to order at 9:10 a.m. with President MacLennan in the Chair.
Local 002, Chapter 012 brought forward an Appeal to the Provincial Executive with respect to a decision made by the President as per Article 10 of the Constitution. All discussion occurred in-camera. The decision of the Provincial Executive to uphold the ruling of the President was entered into the record.

A telephone roll call vote was ratified being:
"That the Provincial Executive of AUPE attend the Convention of the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) on November 11-13, 2001 in Winnipeg, Manitoba as representatives of AUPE in order to exercise their right of appeal in accordance with Article X, Section 19 of the NUPGE Constitution."

Discussion occurred with respect to the situation with the National Union. As President Clancy had not indicated at the last Provincial Executive meeting what it would take to lift the suspension, the AUPE Committee meeting with NUPGE's Committee on September 29, 2001 would be taking the position the Provincial Executive had previously given. President MacLennan advised that NUPGE had indicated that two people would be allowed to attend at their Convention to make a presentation regarding the appeal. National Executive Board members being President MacLennan and Vice-President Hoffman would be attending and presenting AUPE's appeal

MOTION: That AUPE's position in discussions with NUPGE's Committee and in the presentation of the Appeal be that the parameters for resolution of lifting the suspension shall not include payment of back dues or commitment as per the NUPGE Resolution.
