Provincial Executive Meeting Summaries
Saturday, July 04, 1998

President MacLennan called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. This was to have been the regularly scheduled meeting of June 20, 1998 but was instead rescheduled due to the job action slated for the Alberta Children's and Foothills Hospitals.

President MacLennan introduced new P.E. representative Rob MacNair from Local 118 (County of Strathcona).

During discussion on the President's Report, Julian Ross (Local 040) Alberta Children's Hospital and Reynold Morgan (Local 055) Foothills Hospital extended appreciation and thanks to the President, Executive Secretary-Treasurer, and Vice-Presidents for all their support during their negotiations and pending job action.

Through the Executive Committee report, the staffing complement will increase by two positions. It has not yet been determined where these two positions will be best utilized.

After some discussion, the proposed 1998 - 99 budget was furthered to the 22nd Annual Convention. As well, the Finance Committee is to create a formula and policy so as to adjust the Local rebates annually.

Through the Membership Services Report, life membership was granted to Martin Kowalski, Local 039. The Committee also asked that AUPE provide an educational/promotional video tape at a cost not to exceed $25,000. To help offset costs, Locals would be approached for donations. This motion was defeated as it was felt these services could be provided by our own Locals and the Committee is to seek component financial support prior to bringing a closer estimate to PE with a recommended bid.

The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 1998, commencing at 9:00 a.m. in Boardroom #112 at AUPE Headquarters.
