Provincial Executive Meeting Summaries
February 8, 2003

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. with President MacLennan in the Chair.

The 2004 Labour Education School is tentatively scheduled in Jasper for February 22-26 and if not acceptable then an alternate date of February 8-12.

A policy regarding Standing and Ad Hoc Committee attendance has been forwarded to the Executive Committee for further review and input.

A joint Conference for the Women’s, Health and Safety, Anti-Privatization and Youth Committees is being planned for September 19, 20 and 21, 2003.

AUPE will be holding a one day basic accounting course in June 2003 and again in September 2003. Policy 5-13, Remuneration to Component Officers (Honorariums) was amended to include T4a forms and will be provided by Headquarters. The accounting firm of Gardiner Karbani Audy and Partners has once again been retained as auditors for the 2002/2003 budget year.

The Youth Committee has a vacancy and if anyone (under age 30) is interested he or she is asked to submit a letter to the President’s Office.

A new Policy 11-10 was adopted with respect to Auxiliary Nursing Care Multi-Facility bargaining.

B. Gawne, legal counsel gave a presentation on the Duty of Fair Representation. AUPE is to develop a new policy on its duty of fair representation which will be forwarded to a future meeting of the Provincial Executive.

The meeting adjourned at 2:44 P.M. The next meeting is scheduled for April 12, 2003 and will be held in Grande Prairie.
