Provincial Executive Meeting Summaries
February 8, 2002

The Provincial Executive meeting was held on Friday, February 8, 2002 in Calgary, Alberta with President MacLennan in the Chair.

Policy 9-1 passed at Convention dealing with Regional Meetings was amended by the Provincial Executive and is found in the AUPE Policies and Procedures Manual.

Some discussion ensued with respect to a resolution by the CAW being taken to the CLC Convention. Locals should be discussing the issue with their members as to whether they want back into the CLC and NUPGE and dealt with as to the position of AUPE members.

A power point presentation was given with respect to the restructuring of the Health Care Locals which will take effect June 1, 2002. This will entail an additional 3 Provincial Executive representatives.

Each Local is to discuss with their members funding for the Health Care play which was presented at the 2001 annual convention and whether they wished to forward funding for the play to tour the province.

The Legislative Committee has undertaken to update Policies in the manual and delete some which are redundant. They have also forwarded Policies to various Committees for updating and review.

The WCB/LTDI Committee is identifying inactive members on the database who were on WCB/LTDI to obtain information on their experiences and why they were no longer active with WCB.

Thirty-one members from Local 2424, Chapter 009, Athabasca Extendicare commenced strike action on Monday, February 11, 2002 in Athabasca. They will need support on the picket line.

The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2002 in Red Deer, Alberta.
