Provincial Executive Meeting Summaries

The Provincial Executive meeting was held on Saturday, December 07, 2002 at Nisku, Alberta with President MacLennan in the Chair.

The dates of February 08; April 12; June 21; September 13; October 22 and December 06 were scheduled for 2003 PE meetings.

Convention 2003 is to be held at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Centre on October 23, 24 and 25, 2003.
A presentation on Pensions was made by AUPE Union Representative Carl Soderstrom to the Provincial Executive with questions and answers following.

A motion was passed that AUPE lobby all levels of government to restore adequate levels of funding to long term care.

Applications are slowly coming in for the Labour Education School and PE reps were reminded Locals need to review their applications and submit them to their respective regional offices.

Resolution 4-9 passed by Convention dealing with the PREP classification system in the General Service is being dealt with by Headquarters with staff assigned.

There is a vacancy on the Membership Services Committee as well as the Ad Hoc Committee on Youth Mobilization. Anyone interested is to submit their name to the President’s office.

A Youth Seminar as mandated by Convention has been scheduled for May 1st and 2nd, 2003 in Edmonton.
The Members’ Benefits Committee changed the Statement of Investment Policies and Goals of the Members’ Benefits Committee which was endorsed by the Provincial Executive.

A further motion was passed to direct the legislative committee to come back with policy to next PE meeting to enable the PE to remove appropriate persons from members in good standing.

The next meeting will be held on February 08, 2003 in Leduc, Alberta.
