The meeting was called to order at 9:10 a.m. with President MacLennan in the Chair. The
The 2002 Provincial Executive Meetings were scheduled as follows:

February 08, Calgary
September 21, Calgary
April 20, Red Deer
October 23, Edmonton
June 22, Lethbridge
December 07, Edmonton

The 2002 Convention is scheduled for October 24, 25 and 26, 2002 at the Ramada Inn, Edmonton.

Some discussion ensued with respect to a proposed new Policy in regards to a definition of a single-site local. The Finance Committee, Legislative Committee and Local 055 are to meet further on this issue.

President MacLennan provided a report on the NUPGE Convention and AUPE's appeal of NUPGE's Executive Board decision which was upheld by the delegates (with a message though that they wished to work towards a resolve).

Vice-President Gingras spoke on a Resolution passed at Convention for a D.O.V.E.Award (Day of Validation and Equity) to be presented on National Women's Day, March 8, 2002. This Award is open to all female members who are regular members in good standing with AUPE (except the current Women's Committee). Nominations must accompany a profile of 150 words recognizing someone who is working towards the betterment of AUPE.

A Labour Education School was supported and scheduled scheduled for March 2-6, 2002. Application forms are being sent out and members can also apply via the website.

Discussion occurred with respect to the Government cut-backs and the hiring freeze.

The meeting adjourned at 2:20 P.M. The next meeting is scheduled for February 8, 2002 in Calgary.
