The meeting was called to order at 9:04 a.m. with President MacLennan in the Chair. Many observers were in attendance having attended the Health Executive Local meeting the previous day with respect to Bill 27.

A presentation with respect to Bill 27, the Labour Relations (Regional Health Authorities restructuring)

Amendment Act, 2003 via powerpoint was given to the PE. As well a campaign and strategies were presented and discussed.

A motion to support northern allowance/retainment pay for members working in health care in Fort McMurray was ratified.

Potential job action for members from the Continuing Care Employers Bargaining Association and Capital Care General Support tables was endorsed.

A draft policy on Standing and Ad Hoc Committee Attendance was presented and tabled to the next PE meeting.

The Youth Committee will proceed with a Conference in September 2003 and the other 3 AUPE Committee Conferences (Women’s, Anti-Privatization and Occupational Health and Safety) will be rescheduled for late November 2003.

A preliminary budget for Bill 27 was adopted.

A number of Motions contained in the Finance Committee Report were tabled to the next PE meeting.

Regular Committee reports were presented.
